Fiesta Bowl Parade Preps Under Way

PHOENIX -- The Fiesta Bowl Parade is a family favorite each year. Spectators can see floats and marching bands, local celebrities and performers march through Phoenix city streets.CBS 5 wanted to know what to expect this year."This year's parade will have six floats," said float designer Robert Kelsey.Parade Chairman Marcus Sipolt said the parade will have 15 balloons, dozen equestrian units, a lot of other units.Sipolt said between the Sun City Pom Poms and the Arizona Ghost-busters, there's something for everyone.Kelsey is the man behind the float-making magic. His company, Charisma Floats & Designs, builds floats for everything from the Rose Bowl to the Oscars, plus the masterpieces you'll see Saturday.There's the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation float, compete with a 10-foot warrior. You'll also see the queen's float, with a horse and carriage that will carry the queen and her court down the parade route.The parade starts on Central Avenue, just north of Montebello Avenue. It will travel south to Camelback Road, then east to Seventh Street, and then south again to the finish just south of Minnezona Avenue.
