A Valley real estate agent said he's trying to do what he can to help the widow and daughters of fallen Department of Public Safety Officer Chris Marano.

Marano was putting stop sticks across Loop 101 during a high-speed pursuit when he was struck and killed by a fellow officer.

Real estate agent Todd Souers said that before Marano's death, the family was planning to buy a home in Surprise; however, the family might not be able to afford it now.

"If 1,000 people donated $150 each … we can salvage something from this horrible situation," Souers said.

Souers has offered to forgo his commission to make sure the sale goes through.

People who wish to help the Marano family may donate to the Christopher Marano Memorial Fund at Desert Schools Federal Credit Union, account No. 4326392835.
