2 Vandalism Cases Investigated
Racially Charged Graffiti At High School Probed

PHOENIX -- Officials are investigating two separate incidents of vandalism.In Maricopa County, deputies are investigating a case of graffiti at Boulder Creek High School reported Tuesday morning by a security guard at the school. Someone scrawled racially charged graffiti and a swastika on the walls, in a stairwell and on cement at the school, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.A parent told KPHO that the graffiti included the N word as well as a mention of President Barack Obama, but the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office could not confirm the nature of the graffiti.In a separate incident in Rimrock, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said investigators were called Friday after someone destroyed a 12-foot dream catcher, also known as a dream warrior, displayed outside the Verde Valley Honey store in the 3100 block of Beaver Creek Boulevard.The interior strings of the dream catcher, valued at $4,500, were cut and the outer support loop was stolen, deputies said. Turquoise from one of the dream catcher rings was stolen, they said. A display trailer for the dream catcher was shoved over a nearby embankment, deputies said.The damage happened sometime between 6 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday. The owner does not know who might have done the damage, nor does the owner of the store.The Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information about the theft and vandalism to call 928-771-3260. Information about this crime can be reported to Yavapai Silent Witness at 800-932-3232. Callers can remain anonymous and will become eligible for a reward if an arrest is made in the case.
