Elaborate Sex Crime Operation Busted

Valley Massage Parlors Used for Prostitution, Police Say

It's an operation that may have been going on for years, according to court records.

Everything from money laundering to prostitution to possibly a sex slave operation where women were smuggled into Phoenix then held as prisoners.

Marvin Morris Jr., 64, of Scottsdale is the man Phoenix police said was the mastermind behind the elaborate sex crime operation across the Valley.

According to court records, Morris operated an assortment of massage parlors where female employees offered extra services, performing sexual acts on male customers.

One employee offered an act of prostitution while giving a message to an undercover officer, police said. The cost was $60.

Rob Gentile owns a fitness center next to the Greenday Spa in Scottsdale.

He's not surprised by the recent raid because of all the strange activity he's seen lately.

"You'd see a lot of people waiting in their car looking around to make sure nobody was around," said Gentile. "They'd get out of the car real fast, then run up the stairs ."

A woman who did not want to be identified started working at one of the spas a few weeks ago.

She said the business is under new management, but she's already run into customers asking for sexual favors.

"Sometimes they say, would you like to help me do something else?" the woman said. "I said no, but they it was different before. I say not now, everything has changed."

During an interview with police, records show Morris admitted to knowing acts of prostitution were occurring at the business.

He also admitted to advertising in Los Angeles newspapers for Asian women to work in Phoenix.

What investigators are trying to prove now is whether Morris was also involved in human trafficking, by smuggling woman into Phoenix, then holding them against their will.

Authorities said the case is still under investigation and more arrests may be made.
