PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- A man was arrested on Tuesday after police said he admitted to shaking his 9-month-old son, who underwent surgery for bleeding in the brain, Prescott officers said.Enrique Soto, 19, was arrested and booked into the Camp Verde Jail on one count of child abuse and one count of aggravated assault on a minor. The incident occurred on Oct. 7. Soto and his wife, Briawnna, took their infant to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center because he was unresponsive after having a seizure, said Lt. Clayton Heath of the Prescott Police Department. The baby was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center and underwent surgery for two subdural brain bleeds, Heath said.During the surgery, additional internal bleeding was discovered in the baby's head, indicating signs of abusive head trauma consistent with shaken baby syndrome, Heath said. The baby was later released to his mother, who is not living with the father, Heath said.Over the course of the investigation, Enrique Soto was interviewed by Prescott police detectives and he admitted to shaking the baby on several occasions, Heath said.
