Neo-Nazis March As Protesters Decry Rally

Two Groups Face-Off At Arizona Capitol Saturday

Members of a neo-Nazi group marched and protested Saturday afternoon at the Arizona State Capitol over illegal immigration.

National Socialist Movement member Steven Boswell called the gathering "an American first rally" and a demand that politicians put Americans first.

About 100 people, some dressed in black and wearing arm patches, marched down Washington Street toward the Capitol near downtown Phoenix.

They were met with shouts from protesters across the street.

Police set up a barrier between two groups as they shouted back and forth for about an hour Saturday afternoon.

"We hope to wake-up Americans to realize we're not the ones taking their homes," said J.T. Ready of the National Socialist Movement. "We're not the ones bankrupting the nation. We're the people standing on the street facing the community, enemies of Americans."

Those on the other side said this is not an issue of freedom of speech, it's a clear message of hatred. A message they've been hearing far too long.

Harvey Simon said, "My father was killed in Germany in combat by people who 'forefathered' these people."

If you looked closely between the signs and shouting, you would have seen Simon, a Jewish man who was documenting every move with his camera. His father was killed fighting in World War II. He says he's dealt with groups like these all his life.

Simon said, "Doesn't surprise me at all, the rational in the world still goes on. We see slaughter all over the place but we don't want to se these people in this country ."

No one was arrested and there were no physical fights or injuries reported. The number of protesters outnumbered those who hosted the rally.
