PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Arizona veterans attending the seventh annual Veterans Medical Leadership Council Luncheon Friday voiced concern and support for the victims and families of the Fort Hood, tragedy.Air Force Veteran, Tom Adamson said, "It's very touching. I hope that the families understand it and the nation takes care of them.""Seeing what our troops go through in various combat zones, it's really hard to believe something like this could happen like this in our own backyard," according to Vietnam veteran Ed Carrol of Phoenix.Vietnam era veteran Gordon James said, "My heart just goes out to all their families and the sacrifices that they'd already made in allowing their loved ones to be a part of our armed forces and to lose them this way is really, really sad."The fundraiser they were attending saluted veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq and raised $100,000 for programs to help vets struggling to pay bills.Investigators have been examining the computer, home and even garbage of the Army psychiatrist suspected of killing 13 people at the facility on Thursday.The suspect's cousin says relatives have been interviewed by the FBI. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was shot four times and is said to be in a coma.
