Scottsdale Man Sentenced In ID Theft Ring

POSTED: 6:24 pm MST November 5, 2009

A Scottsdale man charged in an identity theft operation has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 29-year-old Tark Tadros was the leader of a criminal syndicate that used high-tech devices to scan the credit cards of victims -- often in stores and restaurants -- and then manufactured new cards with the stolen information.

Tadros and three other men were accused of spending more than $1 million using the bogus credit cards, racking up large bills at casinos, stores and restaurants.

Mesa police say the ID theft ring had been operating since 2006 before the four men were arrested last February.

A search warrant at one of the defendant's home in Mesa resulted in the police seizure of computers, fake credit cards and credit card manufacturing materials.

Prosecutors say all four suspects pleaded guilty in the case and the last defendant was sentenced Tuesday.
