Adoption Papers, Guns Found In Stolen Bags

Luggage Stacked From 'Floor To Ceiling,' Police Say

Investigators sorting through baggage allegedly stolen from Sky Harbor International Airport have found adoption papers, a photo-enforcement citation, laptops and a baseball card collection, police said. Officers arrested Keith King and Stacey Legg-King after discovering 1,000 bags in the couple's home Monday night, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers found luggage, which was stripped of all identifying information, piled in the hallways and bedrooms as well as clothing, shoes, appliances and electronics strewn about the house, according to court documents.

"There are about 14 rooms in the house," said Phoenix police Sgt. Giogi Chiappo. "Most of it is with luggage from floor to ceiling and clothing from floor to ceiling … It's unbelievable. This has been going on for years."

Officers have also found video games, laptops, guns, medicine and cameras in the home, police said.

"The amount of luggage being stored inside the residence was almost surreal, and it was obvious that the property strewn about the residence in piles did not belong to defendant Keith King," Officer Kendall Goo wrote in the initial report.

Neighbors said they were suspicious of the couple even before the arrest. Apparently, they would drive home hauling a trailer early in the morning.

"It was 4 a.m. in the morning, and this fellow comes driving by with his two-horse trailer, and it is packed," said neighbor Eugene Huneycutt. "And I can't say it's packed with luggage (but) it looked like it was packed with items and junk."

The Kings do not own any horses.

Legg-King is out of jail after posting bond Wednesday. King is still in custody with a $25,000 bond.

People who think their luggage was stolen from Sky Harbor can call a hotline dedicated to the case at 602-495-7808.

If police are unable to reunite the bags with their owners, there's talk that some of the contents will be donated to Goodwill.
