PHOENIX -- A Glendale father accused of running down his daughter because she was too Westernized faces arraignment Thursday in Maricopa County Superior Court.Prosecutors are expected file harsher charges against 48-year-old Iraqi immigrant Faleh Hassan Almaleki in the death of his daughter, 20-year-old Noor Faleh Almaleki.Faleh Almaleki was originally charged with two counts of aggravated assault.Peoria police spokesman Mike Tellef said detectives and Maricopa County prosecutors are determining what the new charges against Almaleki will be.Almaleki is accused of using his Jeep Grand Cherokee to run down his daughter and her friend, 43-year-old Amal Edan Khalaf, in a parking lot in Peoria Oct. 20.Almaleki fled the country, but U.K. Port of Entry authorities denied him entry into London. He was put on a flight back to the U.S., and authorities arrested him upon his arrival in AtlantaAt a court hearing over the weekend in Phoenix, county prosecutor Stephanie Low told a judge that Almaleki admitted to committing the crime.Khalaf remains in serious but stable condition, police said.
