PHOENIX -- Rick Coon said he returned home from work Monday evening to find his front door and side window open. He said the thief or thieves stole not only laptop computers and other electronics, but also two puppies.

“They’re only four days old,” said Rick Coon.

“I don’t care about the electronics. But these babies -- they need their mom or they will die,” said Jennifer Coon.

It was just four days ago the family dog Princess gave birth. Rick Coon said the puppies can’t even open their eyes yet.

“They’re helpless. They can’t fend for themselves. They can’t eat anything other than mother’s milk and that’s where they need to be -- with their mother,” said Rick Coon.

“I’m absolutely disgusted. I can’t believe someone would take something like that out of a home and have conscience,” said Jennifer Coon. “I just want them to bring them home.”

Phoenix police took a report at the family's home Monday evening.

UPDATE: About a half an hour after Monday’s 10 p.m. news report, Rick Coon called to say the puppies had been found. Two teen boys in the neighborhood said they found the puppies around lunchtime, dumped in a box behind a nearby business, and helped take care of them. Coon said another neighbor who saw the news report put two and two together, and helped arrange a reunion. A tearful Jennifer Coon said she was happy and relieved that the pups were safe and back with their mother.
