Members of the Phoenix Suns are helping turn old doors headed for the junkyard into bunk beds for needy families.

The Suns teamed up with Rebuilding Together and Enterprise Car Sales for the project.

They took solid-core doors that would otherwise go to the junkyard and turn them into beds.

Suns guard Jason Richardson helped with the project Thursday afternoon at the US Airways Center plaza.

"We're not really able to get the furniture all the time and it's providing a nice little service for the families," Richardson said.

The beds will go to seven local families from Save the Family, a nonprofit organization that helps families end the cycle of poverty, abuse and homelessness.
