Phoenix police have arrested a second man in connection with a series of robberies committed against people getting water from water facilities, officers said.

Jose Hernandez was apprehended at his home in Avondale on Wednesday.

Detectives executed a search warrant and recovered some evidence, investigators said. During a police interview, Hernandez made admissions concerning three of the robberies, officers said.

Hernandez and Joseph Anderson are accused of committing five separate robberies in Maryvale Precinct area during a 90-minute period on Oct. 9.

During the robberies, the men approached victims who were at water stations refilling water containers, detectives said.

In two of the robberies, the men pistol-whipped victims, causing injuries which required treatment at the hospital.

On Oct. 13, Phoenix police detectives said they were able to identify Anderson through photo line-ups and he was arrested.

During an interview with Anderson, he admitted to the robberies and detectives were able to obtain the name of the second man, Hernandez.

Victims identified Hernandez through photo line-ups, detectives said.
