PHOENIX -- Drug smugglers are now using horses to carry loads of marijuana across the border, authorities said.According to a news release on the Border Patrol's Web site, agents seized at least two horses carrying a total of 971 pounds of marijuana near Sonoita, Ariz.The marijuana has an estimated street value of $776,800, authorities said.The smugglers using the horses fled and avoided arrest, according to the Border Patrol.Agents said the horses and marijuana were held for further processing.
