SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The MVD notified a Scottsdale man that his license was suspended eight years after a photo-radar camera captured him speeding. The Scottsdale Municipal Court said Ken Lind was ticketed in April of 2000, but Lind said he never received the ticket so he never did anything about it.In December 2008, the MVD informed Lind of the license suspension. They did not explain the 8-year delay.“So I called the court and a young lady told me to come on down that they've been having some issues like this with computer glitches and a lot of old tickets were popping up,” said Lind.Attorney Susan Kayler wrote the book “Smile For The Speed Camera: Photo Radar Exposed.”She said she noticed a new trend around the same time that the MVD sent Lind his letter.“In the beginning of 2009, I started getting a lot of calls and e-mail from people saying the same thing, that they had no idea they had a photo radar ticket and they first found out when their licenses were suspended. All of them came from Scottsdale," said Kayler.A city of Scottsdale spokesperson said they don’t know what exactly happened with Lind’s paperwork to cause the delay. As for the citation, Lind appealed and won because there was no proof that someone served him the ticket.“It was still a hassle, and it cost me hundreds of dollars,” said Lind.
