PHOENIX -- A grand jury has indicted Angela Simpson in connection with the fatal attack of a disabled man whose dismembered body was set on fire and dumped in a trash can, the county attorney's office said.Angela Simpson, 33, is charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and abandonment or concealment of a dead body."Our office will determine in the near future whether to seek the death penalty for this defendant," said County Attorney Andrew Thomas.According to the probable cause statement filed by Phoenix police, the body of Terry Neely, 46, was set ablaze. Firefighters found the body on Aug. 5, in a garbage container behind Covenant of Grace Christian Fellowship Church on West Peoria Avenue. It appears Neely was stabbed 50 times, beaten and a nail was driven into his head, the probable cause statement said.Police said Neely's body was so charred they initially had no idea whether it was a man or a woman. He was later identified by his fingerprints.Neely was living at an assisting-living facility where he was last seen leaving in his motorized wheelchair on Aug. 2 at about 8 p.m., police said. His motorized wheelchair is still missing.Officers also arrested Edward McFarland, 36, for allegedly helping Simpson get rid of the body. McFarland is charged with abandonment or concealment of a dead body and hindering prosecution.
