Fire Destroys Home In Surprise

SURPRISE -- Firefighters battled a fire in Surprise that spread from the house to the carport and an SUV.The blaze broke out at a home in the 15600 block of North Verde Street early Wednesday afternoon.When firefighters arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames.At one point, when the fire spread to the carport and the SUV, the vehicle's gas tank exploded.Firefighters said the house is a total loss.
