PHOENIX -- Maricopa County sheriff's deputies said a neighbor called in a tip after seeing about a dozen people get out of a vehicle and then go inside a suspected drop house near 87th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road. After deputies began investigating on Sunday, they pulled over a vehicle that had left the house on West Jocelyn Terrace.Investigators said the four men in the car led them back to the home."I looked out my front window and there are 45 to 50 people all handcuffed on my driveway and rocks," said Milo Melendez, a neighbor who lives two doors down fro the drop house.Deputies said they found 45 more people inside the home. Some had tried to escape after investigators knocked at the door.Melendez said he never saw signs and none of his neighbors never mentioned anything.“It just is shocking, pretty quiet neighborhood, a lot of empty houses. I expect vandalism from kids and stuff, nothing like that," said Melendez.MCSO said the people in the home ranged from teenagers to young adults and that a few were dehydrated, but they don’t know how long they had been at the house."We do know that this is a continual problem,” said Detective Aaron Douglas with MCSO. “We were out on last Wednesday and now we have this, so we know that this is an active problem and the MCSO is diligent in its investigation."
