A woman pushing a stroller carrying her 2-year-old grandson was hit and killed Friday night by a motorist in a Gilbert subdivision, police said.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

Police said she was crossing Warner Road between McQueen and Cooper roads when a car rounded the corner and didn't see her in time.

The grandmother was hit and dragged almost 30 feet, officers said.

A nurse drove up almost immediately and began CPR until paramedics arrived, but the grandmother did not make it, investigators said.

The stroller was not hit and the child is escaped injury.

The driver of the car was taken to the Gilbert Police Department for questioning. Police said there was no sign of impairment, and that charges at this point will not be filed.

Officers are calling it a tragic accident.
