Some Valley industries are still hiring even though the national unemployment rate is the highest it's been in 26 years, according to Theresa Maher from Jobing.com.

Maher said Arizona education and health services are looking for employees.

Opportunities in Arizona are through places like Banner, Cancer Treatment Centers of America and Phoenix Children's Hospital, Maher said. The Maricopa community college network and the Apollo group are also hiring.

The start of the new fiscal year for many companies means more possible opportunities in the months to come, Maher said.

The Labor Department reported another 467,000 jobs were cut in June, driving the unemployment rate to 9.5 percent.

A total of 14.7 million people were unemployed in June, the labor department said.

Reports said the biggest cuts came in professional and business services, followed by manufacturers and construction companies.
