UPDATED: 8:36 am MST July 2, 2009

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu announced Wednesday that he has placed two members of his command staff on paid administrative leave for allegations that he described as "serious in nature."

Babeu said the incidents are not related.

He said Cmdr. Joe McAuliffe has been placed on administrative leave pending the completion of an administrative review of the results of an audit and investigation regarding allegations of deception and failure to disclose pre-employment information.

Babeu said Lt. Kaye Dickson has been placed on paid administrative leave after a complaint was filed involving allegations of possible criminal wrongdoing as well as internal policy violations.

"All staff and certainly command-level staff will be held accountable for their actions," Babeu said. "I take all allegations regarding employee conduct very seriously."

He said the complaint has been referred to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office for investigation and recommendation.
