Police: Bank Robber Found At Hotel

PHOENIX -- Police say a man who fled on a BMX-style or mountain bike after robbing a Chase Bank in Scottsdale on Thursday has been captured.Tips led officers to a motel near 34th and Van Buren streets in Phoenix on Saturday morning, where they arrested John Shannon, 27, of Mesa.According to a representative of the Scottsdale Police Department, Shannonwalked into the bank and gave the teller a demand note threatening to use a gun. No gun was displayed; however, the teller gave the robber cash, police said.Police said they received several anonymous tips that helped identify the suspect and possible locations he may be staying.Shannon was booked into jail on on charges of armed robbery, drug posession and outstanding felony warrants.
