FLORENCE, Ariz. -- An Apache Junction man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing $10,000 worth of copper wire from an Arizona mine.James Lee Roy Cox was taken into custody on Monday at a home in Superior.Cox was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Facility in Florence on charges of burglary, theft, and possession of burglary tools. His arrest follows a months-long investigation at a mine site on Highway 79 that is owned by Kalamazoo Mining Corporation. The mine site was burglarized at least three times during March and April, Pinal County sheriff's deputies said. Cox has only been liked to two of the burglaries."We are still investigating the other burglary and if we can link Mr. Cox to that one, he will face additional charges," said Detective Mike Hughey with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office Property Crimes division.During the initial burglary, deputies said they observed a vehicle in the area of the mine. As the vehicle left the area, deputies said they copied down the license plate number hoping that it would lead investigators to the suspect.Following the incident, the deputy said he turned the license plate number over to investigators, who were able to reach the vehicle owner in the Apache Junction area. The owner told authorities that her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend had the vehicle in Tucson, investigators said.Detectives said they were able to locate the vehicle owner's daughter with the assistance of Pima County Adult Probation. The woman told investigators that she had not seen her boyfriend, Cox, in over a week, deputies said. She also told investigators that Cox's parents lived in Superior. Investigators were able to locate the home in Superior, where Cox was apprehended.Cox has been released from custody after posting a $5,000 bond.
