TEMPE, Ariz. -- Some ASU students and their guests were angry about the high cost of water bottles at graduation.A 20 oz. bottle cost $3.50.A one liter bottle cost $5.50.It is the same price football fans pay at Sun Devil Stadium. But fans had expected cheaper prices on graduation day, since the university required students and guests to arrive hours before the ceremony."It's ridiculous. They're ripping us off," Ollie Johnson said. She was at commencement ro watch a friend get her diploma."We're not allowed to bring any in and then we come in and it's outrageous $5.50 for a bottle of water," said Rhonda Kirby, whose sister graduated from ASU Wednesday."It is what it is," Bacalia Angel said. The ASU graduate sneaked off the hot field Wednesday afternoon to buy more water because the school temporarily ran out of water on the field.Water was available for free at stations around the stadium, but guests were only given a 5 ounces paper cup to fill up.Student and graduates said the tiny amount of water was far less than needed to stay hydrated in the triple digit temperatures. No one was allowed to bring water bottles inside the stadium for security reasons.
