A Douglas man was arrested over the weekend after Arizona Department of Public Safety officers said they found more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana in his pickup truck.

In a statement, DPS said they arrested Hector Soto-Hernandez, 39, on Saturday after officers stopped his pickup truck on Interstate 10, 15 miles east of Benson, for a suspended license plate.

DPS agents later found more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana in the flatbed trailer that was attached to the truck, according to the statement.

Hernandez was arrested for possession and transportation of marijuana, and was booked into the Cochise County Jail, according to DPS.
