Two men were found dead in a burning pickup truck in Forest Lakes, the Coconino County Sheriff's Office said.

Northern Arizona dispatchers received a call Sunday of a parked 1994 Ford pickup truck that was emitting smoke, deputies said.

Deputies and firefighters arrived to find the truck locked and a smoldering fire inside the cab. Firefighters broke the passenger window to remove the victims, deputies said.

The victims have been identified as Jesse Viers, 19, and Larnelle Hyden, 20, both of Phoenix. Relatives told deputies the men were headed to Lake Pleasant for a fishing trip.

Upon investigation, deputies said detectives recovered a disposable aluminum barbecue grill in the truck cab. Officials said the men may have lit the barbecue for cooking or warmth and died of carbon monoxide poisoning from the smoke.
