Officers Find $30,900 In Minivan

PHOENIX -- Police officers detaining a man for driving on a suspended license discovered more than $30,000 in cash in his car Friday afternoon, authorities said.According to Surprise Police Department spokesman Sgt. Mark Ortega, the officers stopped the minivan driven by Rio Rico resident Luis Valenzuela, 51, on suspicion of a traffic violation.Officers arrested Valenzuela after discovering his suspended license, Ortega said.While he was taking inventory of Valenzuela's minivan before towing, Officer Steven Kerr saw bundles of currency in the van, Ortega said. Kerr eventually discovered $30,900 in wrapped bundles strewn throughout the vehicle.Surprise police officers are currently investigating the incident, Ortega said.
