'Most Wanted' Contractor Arrested

The Valley's No. 1 most wanted contractor has been arrested and the Arizona Registrar of Contractors gave CBS 5 some of the credit.

Christopher Eastwood is accused of bilking area homeowners out of more than $100,000.

Kenneth Wolf said he lost $7,000 after hiring Eastwood for a remodeling project.

"The whole back porch is unfinished," Wolf said. "He didn't do anything besides remove porch and some trash from the yard."

CBS 5 first reported on the problems with Eastwood as part of the station's "5 Worst Contractors" story in May.

He was apprehended weeks ago after admitting there were warrants for his arrest during a traffic stop in Mesa.

"I think the media, channel 5, did an excellent job getting the word out about the most wanted," said Armando Contreras of the Registrar of Contractors. "When suspects know they are being broadcast through the media, they tend to make some mistakes."

The Registrar of Contractors said Eastwood earned No. 1 on its most wanted list because he was the most active, doing little or no work but allegedly taking anywhere from $2,000 to $22,000 from homeowners.

Another man said Eastwood even tried to use his business name. "He's probably the shadiest guy I've ever met in my life," said Jason Deegan.

Other contractors still sought on the most wanted list include Mario Villa of J and B Construction and Dmitry Ioshpa of Design International Flooring.
