Emu Ties Up Traffic In Gilbert

PHOENIX -- Some Gilbert police officers became animal herders after an emu broke free of its home on South Gilbert Road.The escape occurred early Saturday afternoon.The loose bird was a traffic hazard as it wandered up the street, according to a Gilbert Police Department representative.It took officers about eight minutes to corral the emu with a rope, the representative said.
