Man In Cowboy Hat Robs Credit Union

Glendale police are trying to identify a man wearing a cowboy hat who robbed an Arizona Federal Credit Union in the morning of Nov. 6.

The man approached the teller at the credit union on West Northern Avenue and presented a note demanding money, Glendale police spokesman Sgt. Jim Toomey said.

The robber allegedly threatened to shoot the teller, though no gun was actually seen, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, Toomey said. He was seen getting into a red Ford Ranger pickup.

According to police, the robber is a white male between 55 and 60 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and around 200 pounds. He has grey hair, sideburns and a mustache, and he was wearing a brown cowboy hat, a black T-shirt, blue jeans and black boots.

"This suspect is unusual for two reasons," said Glendale police Detective Nedd Wilkens. "He is older than a typical bank robber, (and) the western apparel was certainly different than we are used to seeing."
