UPDATED: 5:47 pm MST September 30, 2008

Gilbert police are searching for a 35-year-old woman after she left her parent's home to walk her dog early Monday morning.

"She did leave me a note on the bathroom vanity and it just said, 'I'm taking Xena,'" said Marianne Williams, Anne Carver's mother.

Carver's dog was located wandering near her home, near Queen Creek and Greenfield roads, at 5:30 a.m., still wearing a leash, police said.

"Anne is a very consistent she's strong independent professional woman," said Tyler Williams, her brother. "Something like this is totally out of character."

Carver is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She has wavy, long brown hair and brown eyes.

Officers said they are using scent dogs to try to solve her disappearance.

People with information on Carver are urged to call the Gilbert Police Department at 480-503-6500.
