PHOENIX -- A man died at Asarco Ray Operations near Kearny, Ariz., on Friday morning, company officials reported Thursday.The victim's nephew Jose Gonzalez said his uncle was electrocuted. He said the company is not relaying information to the family about the death.According to Asarco spokesman James Bates, the company "is cooperating fully with federal and state authorities in their ongoing investigation of what happened."The company's Ray Operations primarily deals with a large, open copper mine that has been in operation for more than 100 years.The Arizona Republic reported that Asarco has been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since 2005, and the company recently filed a plan to pay $2.5 billion in environmental claims.
