GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A plane carrying two U.S. Secret Service agents en route to a potential Sen. John McCain campaign site crash landed in a field in Glendale, said Jill Hazelbaker, McCain 2008 communications director. No one was injured.the single-engine Cessna 206 was losing power after takeoff and witnesses said the pilot had to make some life-or-death, split-second decisions. The pilot had to fly the plane over a brick wall and a neighborhood behind it without hitting any houses, said Noel Guebara, a witness."The pilot did a good job avoiding the houses coming down," Guebara said. "He just hit the top part of the fence and then skipped a couple of times."The pilot then brought the plane down just short of high-voltage power lines about two miles from the Glendale airport. An investigation is under way to determine why the plane was losing power.Hazelbaker said in a statement the presumptive Republican presidential nominee and his wife Cindy were relieved to learn that everyone was safe.
