PHOENIX -- Buckeye police arrested a 65-year-old man for repeatedly molesting a young girl, authorities said.

Officers charged David Middlemas, a transient with no permanent address, with two counts of sexual conduct with a minor, with a maximum prison sentence of 70 years.

Middlemas admitted to FBI agents that he had molested the girl in Maricopa County and overseas, police said.

According to officers, the investigation began when a social worker from Child Protective Services alerted a Buckeye detective after a relative of the young girl reported the molestation.

The victim was taken to the Southwest Family Advocacy Center after the investigation began.
