GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Glendale police said they hope a $5,000 reward and fear will trigger leads in a pair of violent bank robberies that were "executed very well."One of them occurred on June 17 at the First Credit Union near 59th Avenue and Thunderbird Road."Each person knew exactly what they were going to do," said Detective Mark Lankford of the Glendale Police Department. "They executed it very very well."Surveillance video shows the first of three robbers walking in the bank with a shotgun. A second robber follows and a third gunman enters with a cocked semi-automatic handgun above his head and starts yelling orders."They made specific threats to individuals in the bank that if they did not cooperate they were going to be killed," Lankford said.Detectives said they believe the robbers knew the bank layout since they rounded up employees from their back offices, brought them up front and ordered them to the ground."It's going to take someone to call us and give us the right tip," said Sgt. Jim Toomey. "We'll take 1,500 tips and look at every single one of them if that's what it takes."The same credit union was struck again on July 3. This time, the gunmen carjacked a customer in the parking lot, officers said. Police said they found the vehicle about a 100 yards away. Both robberies took place at almost the same time of day, about 3:45 p.m. Both times, three robbers entered the credit union wearing several layers of clothing, black or blond wigs, sunglasses and gloves, police said. They were armed with at least one shotgun and one handgun, investigators said.People with information about the holdups are asked to call the Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or the Glendale Police Department.
