Tucson Student Arrested In Idaho Theft Spree

REXBURG, Idaho -- A 20-year-old Brigham Young University-Idaho student from Arizona was arrested Saturday in connection with a shoplifting spree that hit 11 businesses in Rexburg, Idaho.Tavia Joy Womack, of Tucson, went into a music store Friday and stole a $600 guitar, leaving an old one in its place, KIDK-TV reported.The store notified its other branches. When Womack went to another branch Saturday to buy a case for the new guitar, employees called police, Detective Ron Ball told KIDK.During questioning, Ball said, Womack acknowledged additional burglaries.Ball said at least 11 businesses were hit, with Womack netting more than 200 different items ranging from bike helmets to saddle blankets and boots.According to authorities, Womack would generally enter a store with a backpack and fill it with merchandise before leaving.She faces one felony count of burglary in 7th District Court, but more charges are pending.
