Mom Pleads Guilty To Child Abuse

A 22-year-old Valley-area mother had pleaded guilty to charges related to the death of her 2-month-old daughter, the Maricopa county attorney's office said.

Christina Latoya Lacy also pleaded guilty to harming her other 2-year-old daughter, County Attorney Andrew Thomas said.

Lacy pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of child Abuse, a class two felony and dangerous crime against children, and one count of child abuse, a class three felony and dangerous crime against children.

She faces a sentence of 10 years for the class two felony count and lifetime probation on the class three count.

"This parent failed to protect her children from harm," said Thomas. "The victims deserve full justice."

Sentencing is scheduled for June 27.

Lacy's former boyfriend, Jonathan Ray Dudley, was sentenced to 35 years in prison on March 18 for punching Zocarah Lacy in the stomach and causing her death in June 2006.

Dudley was also sentenced to 10 years in prison for severely injuring Zacorah's sister. The sentences are being served consecutively.
