A man wanted in a homicide featured on a national television show was arrested in Mexico and extradited to Phoenix this month, Phoenix police said.

Virginia Rodriguez's decomposing pregnant body was found in a central Phoenix apartment on Aug. 11, 2005. Homicide investigators named Samuel Moreno, then 21 and the father of Rodriguez's two children, as the killer.

Police said Moreno took the children and fled to Mexico.

Phoenix police began working with Mexican authorities and located Moreno in Juarez, Mexico. Investigators said Mexican police arrested Moreno and transported him to Mexico City to await extradition.

Moreno was turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service on May 16 and transported back to Phoenix.

Police said Moreno admitted to Phoenix homicide detectives that he'd killed Rodriguez. He was booked into jail on charges of second-degree murder, arson of an unoccupied structure and manslaughter in the death of Rodriguez's unborn child.

The couple's two children remain in Mexico with Rodriguez's parents.

The investigation into Rodriguez's death was featured on A&E's reality crime show "The First 48."
