UPDATED: 12:40 pm MST May 14, 2008

Avondale police are looking for a man who shot another man in the back and left him for dead.

Police said the victim was walking north on 103rd Avenue when three or four men in a maroon car, possibly a Nissan Sentra, pulled up and one man got out.

The man demanded the victim's backpack and shot the victim once in the back. He grabbed the backpack and fled in the maroon car.

Witnesses described the shooter as a Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s. He wore a white T-shirt, dark pants and a gray bandana over his face. He was armed with a silver handgun.

Anyone with information is asked to call Avondale police at 623-333-7001 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
