A Buckeye man has been charged with kidnapping and sexual abuse after police said he held an 11-year-old girl against her will at his home.

Pedro Valadez was booked on one count each of kidnapping and sexual abuse. He is being held on $24,000 bond.

The victim said Valadez was a man she trusted and looked to as a grandfather figure, police said.

Valadez invited the victim to his home last Thursday to do some chores that he was going to pay her for, police said.

Instead, Valadez grabbed the victim and took her into his bedroom and locked the door, officers said.

Once inside, police said he grabbed and groped the victim and tried to kiss her.

The victim received a phone call from her mother who said that her friend had come by the house looking for her, investigators said. The victim used the excuse and broke away from Valadez, getting to the door, according to officers.

Valadez grabbed the victim again from behind and the victim attempted to bite him, police said. Valadez then let the victim go and fled the residence.

She ran home and told her family and police what had happened, officers said.
