Carjacker Crashes Taxi Into Liquor Store

PHOENIX -- A man carjacked a taxi cab overnight and crashed it into a liquor store while fleeing from police.Police said the man carjacked the cab at gunpoint around midnight in north Phoenix.The cab company tracked the stolen taxi using a GPS system and told police where to find the cab.When officers tried to stop the taxi, the driver took off, leading police on a short chase that ended when he crashed into a liquor store near 16th Street and Buckeye Road.
The taxi and the store were damaged, though police said no one was hurt in the carjacking or crash.The carjacker was taken into custody. His name was not released.
