GILBERT, Ariz. -- A Gilbert mother could face endangerment charges after she left her five children home alone while she went to visit her husband in a Tucson jail, police said.Officers said Jamie Lott was gone for 10 hours while her children stayed by themselves.Police said they were called to the home in the 500 block of North Citrus Lane by a neighbor who told them there was a young child wandering around alone near the swimming pool.Officers said they believe Lott's children, ages 11, 8, 6, 3, and 20 months, were left for hours unsupervised on Mother's Day.
According to one neighbor, it was common to see the children out wandering around alone."I did see them entering the pool,” Tiffany Nixon said. “At the time, there were adults but not related to them.”Lott was not arrested. CBS 5 News tried to reach her at her home, but the person at the house didn't want to comment.Lott has temporarily lost custody of the children, police said. They are in the care of Child Protective Services. There are reportedly three previously substantiated cases of neglect, according to investigators. The case has been forwarded to the city prosecutor for charges.ELSEWHERE ON KPHO.COM: A missing 3-year-old Glendale boy is back home after disappearing for several hours, and police took his grandmother to police headquarters in handcuffs to be interviewed about the disappearance.
