MESA, Ariz. -- Arizona authorities say they have forensically linked a sexual assault in Phoenix to two unsolved killings and an assault in nearby Mesa.
The newest case to be linked to the crime series occurred late last year, said Mesa police Detective Steve Berry. A 35 year-old woman was walking near 7th Street and Osborn around 1 a.m. on Nov. 4 when she was attacked from behind and then taken to another area where she was beaten and raped.
Police first linked the November 2004 strangling death of Alisa Marie Beck with the October 2007 killing of Karen Jane Campbell. They then made the connection between those crimes and an August sexual assault in which a woman was taken to a Mesa home and raped before she escaped naked.Police made the newest connection using DNA evidence.Police released a description of the man sought in connection with the cases. He is described as an Asian male between 25 to 35 years old. He has a medium build and is between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He is clean shaven with short black hair. The man may have a scar or mark beneath his left eye, police said.People with information should contact SILENT WITNESS at 480-WITNESS or 480-948-6377.
