Sheriff: DMX Case Will Be Resolved Soon

PHOENIX -- An investigation of rapper DMX continues, eight months after a raid on his Cave Creek home turned up guns, drugs and allegedly abused animals, Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Tuesday.No charges have been filed in the case.Arpaio was asked about it during a news conference, where he talked about his crime suppression sweeps that have drawn charges of racial profiling from Hispanics and others.The sheriff said the DMX case is still active.
"When I say I'm going to do something, I do it, OK? Some of you may think I do it just to get publicity and then hide. No. The DMX investigation is in full progress. Very soon, I will announce a resolution to that case," Arpaio said.The sheriff declined to comment further or to say whether he has talked with the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons. Simmons, aka DMX, has denied any wrongdoing.The statute of limitations for animal cruelty is one year for misdemeanors, seven years for felonies.
