1 Arrested, 3 Sought In Fatal Shooting

PHOENIX -- One of four men wanted in connection with a Friday night homicide was arrested Monday in Texas as he tried to cross the border into Mexico, Phoenix police said.Tomas Nava, 20, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, though police said he may also be charged with second-degree murder.Nava is one of three men accused of shooting at 19-year-old Eli Olvera near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road late Friday.Witnesses told police the shooting was part of an ongoing conflict between two groups in the neighborhood. Tomas Nava, Raul Nava and a third man known only as "Danny" fired dozens of bullets at Olvera's vehicle, according to police.One shot hit Olvera, killing him. Police believe that bullet was fired by Raul Nava, 21, and said they have probable cause to arrest and charge him with the homicide.Danny is wanted on suspicion of aggravated assault. He is described only as a Hispanic man with tattoos that say "Phoenix" on one forearm and "Arizona" on the other.Police are also looking for another man, 23-year-old Luis Escobedo, who is wanted on an unrelated felony warrant. Escobedo faces no charges in connection with the homicide, though police said they believe he was with the Navas and Danny when the shooting occurred. Escobedo is described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 140 pounds.Tomas Nava is in police custody in El Paso, Texas.
