The boyfriend of a woman whose body was found earlier this month in a torched trash bin has been arrested, Surprise police said.

Dean Robert Warren of El Mirage was in custody Saturday on a first-degree murder charge.

Police spokesman Sgt. Randy Rody said in a statement that the 43-year-old was identified as a suspect during the investigation into the death of 38-year-old Elizabeth Martinez Coy.

Coy's body was found on March 12 inside a burning trash bin in the Phoenix suburb.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Surprise police at 623-222-4000.

The woman's remains were found after a neighbor spotted the fire burning in a trash bin in a housing development under construction.

Mark Odell and his family were watching television when they noticed a glow behind their house. Odell said he called 911 to report what he thought was a common Dumpster fire.

"The fire department showed up and then the police started showing up," Odell said.

Surprise firefighters doused the flames, then checked the trash bin for remaining hot spots. They said they were stunned to find a charred body inside.
