A 36-year-old woman dialed 911 while being sexually assaulted at a restaurant and when sheriff's deputies arrived, they found her lying on a pool table with a man attacking her, investigators said.

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies said they responded to the scene at "Kid Chilleen's" Restaurant in Black Canyon City around 1:50 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies said they apprehended the attacker, identified as Omar Gil-Valenzuela, 32, who lives in a nearby trailer.

Deputies said the assault began in the bar area of the restaurant when Valenzuela attacked the victim and attempted to undress her.

She tried to dial 911 from her cell phone but Valenzuela grabbed the cell phone and threw it out of the victim's reach, deputies said.

Gil-Valenzuela then forced the victim into an office area to continue his attack, according to deputies.

While in the office, the victim was able to dial 911 on a desk phone and place the phone in speaker mode, allowing YCSO dispatch to hear her pleas for help, sheriff's investigators said.

Gil-Valenzuela then dragged the victim from the office onto a pool table and continued the assault until deputies arrived and rescued her, deputies said.

Medical personnel treated the victim at the scene.

Gil-Valenzuela was transported and booked at the Camp Verde Jail on charges of kidnapping and sexual assault.
