SELIGMAN, Ariz. -- A 30-year-old illegal immigrant has been booked on two counts of forgery and one count of identity theft after he was arrested during a traffic stop near Seligman, said the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.A YCSO deputy stopped a white Chevy S10 pickup, displaying California plates, for excessive speed on the eastbound Interstate 40 at milepost 115 Wednesday afternoon. The driver, Donaciano Bahena-Bahena, provided a Mexican Consular card as identification, deputies said. The deputy also noticed a Social Security card and Permanent Resident Card in his wallet that displayed an unrelated name and date of birth, deputies said.
The photo on the Permanent Resident Card resembled Bahena, according to deputies. When questioned where he got the cards, Bahena told the deputy they were not his and he had recently found them on the ground, according to the report. As the investigation continued, deputies said Bahena admitted he bought both the cards in Phoenix and that he was in the United States illegally.Deputies said they conducted a computer check of the Social Security number and determined the number was assigned to a resident in Toltec and noted the resident's name did not match the name displayed on the forged card.Deputies said they were able to contact the Toltec resident by phone and confirmed that she was the victim of identity theft and had no knowledge of Bahena. Bahena was booked at the YCSO jail.A passenger, Daniel Delgado Bahena, 30, admitted to being the U.S. illegally, and was detained at the YCSO jail pending arrival of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
