PHOENIX -- A 7-year-old bicyclist who collided with a van got socked with a collection agency notice saying he owed $650 in repair costs.Dylan Brovitch has recovered from scrapes and bruises after the bike he was riding hit the van in November."I was a little bit freaked out, as much as mom of five children can be," said his mother, Jessica.A witness to the accident quoted Dylan's older brother as saying the 7-year-old lost control of his bike."The officer said no one was at fault, but we exchanged information -- name, address, etc.," Jessica said.Dylan's mom said she offered to fix the tire but the driver declined. Then a few days later, the driver called with an estimate -- $900 for the tire and paint."And I'm going, '$900, are you kidding me? For what?'" she said. Then came calls from Allstate insurance, saying it needed to collect $650, Jessica said."We're going, 'No, we're not paying for this. There was an incident but no one was at fault,'" she said. "The next thing we know we get a collections notice on Dec. 16 in Dylan's name and we go, 'This is absolutely ridiculous. He is 7 years old and in the second grade,'" Jessica said.Dylan's family said Allstate called back on Wednesday saying there had been a mistake. COmpany officials said that it wasn't their policy to send notices to little 7-year-olds.They said they were dropping the matter and gave the family a $100 gift card for a new bike.ELSEWHERE ON KPHO.COM: A Sunday school teacher who was arrested on suspicion of molesting a 5-year-old girl at a Phoenix-area church blamed his actions on his “high blood pressure,” according to a police report.
