The award recognizes the coalition for its unique approach to addressing the impact of meth by scheduling shredding events throughout the Northeast Valley communities and for addressing the critical need to prevent identity theft through education to help reduce the effects of methamphetamine.According to the Federal Trade Commission, identity theft impacts at least nine million people each year. Shredding documents, instead of throwing them in the garbage, is an essential tool in combating identity theft, the FTC said.Scottsdale's shredding initiative is on a first come, first served basis.
